Bio
Peter Plantec, the author of Virtual Humans—Creating the Illusion of Personality, has experience in animation, software development and clinical psychology. He is now a full-time writer and digital artist. As president of Virtual Personalities, Inc., which he founded with Dr. Fuzzy Maudlin, father of Lycos, he was responsible for the design and development of Sylvie, the first commercial virtual-human interface using an animated human face. He is contributing editor of Studio Magazine in New York and a columnist at VFXWorld.com in Hollywood; he speaks at conferences and film festivals around the world; and he has taught master classes in virtual-human design at FITA in Angouleme, France, and he is currently consulting on the design of virtual-human teachers to be used to assist real teachers across the United States. Plantec also sits on the international advisory boards of several film conferences and the Digital Design Foundation in Beijing. These include FMX in Stuttgart (Europe's largest digital entertainment conference,) and VIEW in Torin, IT.
Peter will be hosting the first 5D conference sponsored by the ADG, to be held in Long Beach, California in October 2008.
